FRS’s “Class Action of the Month” for June 2023 is Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) Indirect Purchaser.
Several class actions were filed in 2007 alleging that the Defendants conspired to raise and fix the prices of CRT Products, which resulted in overcharges to consumers who purchased CRT Products. The Court granted final approval to settlements with Defendants Chunghwa, LG, Philips, Panasonic, Hitachi, Toshiba, Samsung SDI, Thomson and TDA in the amount of $547.75 million; those funds were distributed to eligible claimants in December 2022. In October 2022, the Court granted preliminary approval to a settlement with Mitsubishi. If you or your business purchased Cathode Ray Tube Products from March 1, 1995 through November 25, 2007 for your own use and not for resale, you may be entitled to participate in the $33 million in funds recovered in the class action settlement with Mitsubishi. The claim filing deadline is June 13, 2023.
